Butdhawathin is a representation of the coastline of Noosa stretching from Tea Tree Bay to Noosa North Shore, portrayed using simple white lines, dots and dashes. The center pieces of the artwork are a pandanus tree, a dingo, a turtle and a whale. Each piece is linked to the values of both Noosa and CrossFit. Overall the mural’s story is about CrossFit Noosa’s love for health and wellness in a place of unique beauty, scenery and wildlife. We are so lucky to call this place home.

The pandanus tree can withstand drought, rain and salt, so is uncommonly resilient. It is a commonly seen tree around the coastline of Noosa and was painted in whites and greys to blend into the scenery.

The dingo is a representation of strength & power. Its colours are blue, white, yellow, orange and red, the hottest and coldest parts of a fire. Weights that are used in the gym are painted into the mural.

Our turtle represents flow and movement but also longevity and patience. Its colours are green, yellow and white, picked to signify the greenery and sands of Noosa’s beaches and foreshore. Like the Dingo the turtle also has weights positioned in its shell patterns.

Lastly the whale, a big part of Noosa’s identity. This is due to their annual migration past Noosa’s beaches to give birth to their calves. Our whale represents family, compassion, and both routine and creativity. The colours used within the whale are green and blue, the colours of the sea. Inside the whale we have placed kettlebells.

I hope you enjoy our work as much as we loved creating it.
